Go have a drink at Top of the Hyatt hotel downtown. It’s expensive but so lovely. There is an outdoor club at the Mariott called the Altitude its very pretty up there.
Do you only want to be in the beach area? There is a quaint little town called Julian. Google it.

Suggestions depending on your interests:
A dinner cruise, brunch at Hotel Del on Coronado Island, biking along the coast, hiking at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, a gondola ride, dinner at Bertrand Mister As, roast marshmallows on the beach, watch the sunset from one of San Diego’s beaches, drive to the top of Mt. Soledad in La Jolla for a great view of the city and the coast, wine tasting at wineries. Presidio Park is a great place for a romantic picnic…It’s near Old Town. Donovan’s has a great happy hour. Drinks are regular prices but they pass out yummy filet mignon burritos and sandwiches. It’s not a rowdy place….dimly lit, elegant…perfect for a romantic drink.

Hi, I’ll try to help you. I’ve never stayed in Hotel Zara but I’m travelling quite a lot to Rome and I know the town rather well.
I’ve given a look to the hotel website to check where is placed http://www.hotelzararome.com/hotel-locat…
(I guess you did it already…!) and I can say that its location is very good,mainly for a couple of no-teenagers (however younger as me and my wife).In fact there are just in the neighbors different stations of the subway that’s the best mean to visit roughly Rome (2 days are really a short time for this wonderful site, too many highlights spots worthy with a deeper visit….). I cannot tell you if the hotel is clean or other infos but from yr question I’ve understood yr most interest is to get an opinion about its location and mine it’s positive.
Therefore book this hotel and enjoy Rome.
